O tipo AE é uma roda livre tipo rolo sem suporte por mancais. Mancais são necessários para suportar cargas axiais e radiais. A lubrificação e a vedação devem também ser fornecidas pela instalação. O diâmetro externo nominal é uma dimensão padrão para mancais de esferas.
Uma disposição típica é instalar este tipo ao lado de um mancal com a mesma tolerância de diâmetro da caixa, conforme mostrado na página a seguir.
A pista interna é encaixada no eixo. A pista externa tem uma tolerância h6* e deve ser instalada em uma caixa com tolerância K7*. Entalhes laterais adicionais proporcionam uma transmissão de torque positiva.
Se a tolerância da caixa for para R6, o uso dos entalhes não é necessário; no entanto, a caixa deve ser robusta o suficiente para não se expandir após a montagem. Este projeto pode aceitar um desalinhamento axial das pistas interna e externa de ± S/2.

Type AE is a roller type freewheel non bearing supported. Bearings are required to support axial and radial loads. Lubrication and sealing must also be provided by the installation.
Nominal outside diameter is a standard ball bearing dimension.
A typical arrangement is to install this type beside a bearing with the same housing diameter.
The inner race is keyed to the shaft. The outer race has a h6 tolerance and should be fitted in a housing with a K7 tolerance. Additional side notches provide for positive torque transmission.
If the housing tolerance is to R6, use of the notches is not necessary, but the housing must be strong enough to not expand after assembly.
This design can accept an axial mis-alignment of inner and outer race of ± S/2.
